DESCRIPTION
Le Verger, set in a small hamlet backed by a wooded hillside in the attractive valley of the river Isle, is one mile from the pretty village of Douzillac with its bar and small general store, and only 5 minutes from local shops and restaurants in the nearby market town of Mussidan. The historic market towns of Neuvic and St. Astier are only a little further, with festivals throughout the Summer. July and August also see a host of local village fêtes, fireworks and concerts in the surrounding district.
Our sympathetically modernized 200 year old farmhouse has been furnished and equipped to a high standard. With the adjoining owners' cottage and barn is set around a courtyard looking out over mature gardens. These include fruit trees, banana palms, vines and flowering bushes, and the large suntrap swimming pool terrace. Yet we are only 40 minutes from Bergerac town and Airport and 15 minutes from the nearest motorway exit.
Swim in the 12m x 6m pool, relax on a padded sunbed or in the shade; play table tennis in the barn, take local woodland or riverside walks or explore the area with excursions to suit all ages. Visit the region's many chateaux, picturesque bastide villages, children’s entertainment centres or colourful markets and prehistoric caves. Medieval Perigueux, our county town 40 minutes away, combines modern shopping and period architecture For wine lovers, the vineyards of Bergerac and Bordeaux (taste and buy!), or the distilleries of Cognac are not to be missed.
