DESCRIPTION
The “Étang de Thau”, only 300 m away, is a salt water lagoon with oyster beds, connected to the Mediterranean Sea; it is a perfect place for windsurfing and sailing. All such equipment can be hired at the port, just 1 km from the house. The southern end of the “Canal du Midi” is just around the corner. Boats for canal tours (no permit or licence needed) can be hired at Agde, only 5 minutes away by car.
A 16-km-(10 miles) long sandy beach, fringed in part by dunes, is only a 5 minute drive away from the villa. Even at peak times you’ll find enough space for you, the family - and the car. Also within a distance of 5km is the busy and fashionable “Cap d’Agde”, the biggest sailing hot-spot in the Mediterranean. Famous for all kinds of entertainment, golf, tennis, all other sports, amusement parks, dining and nightlife. Young people epecially will love it. But you won't be disturbed by any of this if you prefer not to go there.
Location:
Languedoc, beside the Mediterranean Coast, is a lovely place to visit all year round. Even in winter temperatures are not normally below 15°C. Near Marseillan there are mediaeval towns of Agde (5 km), Béziers (15 km), Pézenas (12 km), Carcassonne (40 km), the biggest French fishing-harbour Sète (16 km) and the capital of the Département d’Herault, Montpellier (40 km). Within a 30 minute drive you’ll be in the Cevennes Mountains, famous for their large calm forests and lakes. Even to Barcelona (Spain) it’s only about a 2½ hour drive.
The town of Marseillan has all the usual shopping facilities (e.g. baker, butcher, seafood, supermarkets). A busy rural market is held every Tuesday. Markets in neighbouring villages are held nearly every other day of the week, except Sunday. More than a dozen restaurants, from pizza to luxury, mostly with English speaking employees and English menus, are at your service. Large shopping centres are located at Agde, Béziers and Séte. Whatever you need, you’ll find it within minutes. Most shops are open on Sundays.

Kitchen: fully equipped: fridge/freezer, combined microwave/fan oven with grill, hot-plates, dishwasher, coffee/espresso maker, water heater, an additional fridge for beverage supplies is available in the garage. The garage is used for general storage (sorry, no space for a car. 3 car parking spaces on property.)
Dining-Room: Table with four chairs (standard), two additional chairs are available.
Electric toaster, sideboard, closet with dishes, glasses, cutlery, radio.
Living room: 2 seater settee, 2 armchairs, coffee table, closet, glass cabinet, Sat TV (incl. BBC, Sky, CNN, CNBC) ,DVD Player, stereo system with CD and Cassette.
WC, Central automatic electric hot water heater for kitchen, bath/shower
and washbasin.
First Floor
Bedroom 1: Double bed, Closet, A/C.
Bedroom 2: 2 single beds plus 2 seater settee (both convertible into double beds),
2 armchairs, closet, TV-Set (French TV only) VHS-VCR (PAL) stereo-system, desk, billiard table.
Bathroom: Bath tub, shower, washbasin, WC.
Outdoors
Terrace: table with 6 armchairs, barbecue.
There are 5 bicycles, (3 for adults and 2 adjustable from adult to children size), and a table tennis set available for complimentary use.
